Just to level everyone's expectations - although these screenshots by no means sufficiently hint at the awesome capabilities of foobar - here's what the end result will approximately look like (on a small display):
The next two images demonstrate the Discogs tagging dialog and the field editing window - however, the background is obsolete as I've changed many things since, most prominently the playlist view.
